Activity Overview
This activity is designed to introduce pathologists, laboratory managers/directors, and laboratory professionals to emerging research in biomarker testing (cerebral spinal fluid [CSF] and blood-based biomarkers) and imaging for the detection of Alzheimer’s disease. You will learn about the biological significance and the clinical implications of these biomarkers, as well as how to utilize the AT(N) framework for Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis and biomarker classification. Additionally, you will also learn about the limitations of current biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease and directions for future research.
Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of pathologists, laboratory managers/directors, and laboratory professionals.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:
· Discuss advances in body fluid biomarkers and imaging for Alzheimer’s disease, including the biological underpinnings of these biomarkers, clinical implications, limitations, and potential future research and trends
· Utilize the AT(N) framework to classify biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease
